Around 920 non-fatalities due to accidents at work were reported to the Department of Social Security during the first three months of the year.
Around 475 cases, standing for more than 50% of the accidents, happened to individuals with jobs in elementary or trade places. Age group wise, most of the accidents, 44.6% to be exact, befell those aged 35 years old or younger.
The injuries themselves were found to have mainly been those effecting the upper parts of the body, in places such as hands and fingers. Wounds and superficial injuries were the most likely to have taken place.
This said, around the same period of time, two fatalities in the working environment were reported as taking place. Meaning a jump rise in comparison to the previous year where no fatalities had occurred.
