Apple 3G iPhone : Better than the best

Apple iPhone launched last year was a huge success combining all functionalities of PDA, MP3 player and many other utilities at one platform. Leaving all the fuss behind, this year at WWDC the next version of Apple iPhone was displayed bundled with features that were on the missing list for the last version.

The features that are new to 3G Apple iPhone are:

3G Compatible: The feature that was found missing and was criticized by masses is 3G compatibility. The latest version is 3G compatible and promises higher rates of data transfer. The phone offers support for 3G bands and both UMTS and HSDPA.

The phone promises seamless high speed networks globally. The 3G enabled iPhone offers fast access to the Internet and email over cellular networks around the world. Even the users are able to surf the web, download email, get directions, and watch video while on a call. It is offering the facility to browse and talk at the same time. The 3G enabled phone offers 2.4x speed in comparison to EDGE. The phone offers 5 hours talk time over 3G networks.

Support for Third Party Applications: To every ones surprise, the PDA is set to support a gamut of applications. Name any and iPhone is supporting that application. The gaming applications will be supported on the PDA prominently.

Support for Microsoft Exchange Server: With last version other vendors would have some chance but this time it seems that company have not mistaken and has offered feature for workers also. The iPhone offers support for Microsoft Exchange Server. The integration of this feature makes it a business oriented PDA offering features like push e-mail, contacts and calendar, remote wipe, global contacts access, and auto-discovery. The calendar feature is intuitive and offers ease of use by offering tapping feature to accept or reject a meeting invitation.

Global Positioning System (GPS): The feature existed on iPhone last year but now it is polished up a bit. The GPS feature integrated with 3G iPhone is supplemented by satellites. It guides you at every track monitoring you at every move. The GPS is further augmented with Maps. Like Google Maps, iPhone Maps allow you to switch between map view, satellite view or hybrid view of both. The Maps also show you live traffic information.

Good Battery Life: The device offers good battery life. On 3G network, the phone offers 5 hours long talk time. The 3G iPhone promises 5 hours of 3G talk time, 10 hours of 2G talk time, 5 hours of 3G Internet time, 6 hours of Wi-Fi Internet time, 7 hours of video playback, 24 hours of audio playback, and 12.5 days standby time.

All these features are available at a price which is much lesser than what was tagged for Apple iPhone 1.0. The Major carrier being AT&T, the iPhone2.0 is priced for $199 and $299 for 8GB and 16GB respectively.
