Marketing Advice for your Business

Running a business is not as easy as one thinks. There are plenty of challenges that businesswomen and a firm’s staff has to face in order to survive all the hardships that they encounter while in the trade. This clearly means that there should be excellent communication and co-ordination between all the parts/ divisions of the organization. One important division or functional area of an organization would be ‘Marketing’.

Many are unfamiliar with the fact that Marketing is one of the most important parts of an organization. No matter how much you produce a day, the business would definitely fail if you can’t market your product. This is why marketing is perceived as the heart of a business by many businesswomen. This is also the reason why all businesses seek marketing advice from professionals. This article provides some vital marketing advice that would be of use to all businesses and organizations in order to perform well in the marketplace.

In a Marketers perspective, there are four main important areas that a business needs to look into in order to be successful in marketing. This is well-known in marketing terminology as the “Marketing Mix”, also known as the 4Ps in Marketing. The elements in the marketing mix are:

Product
Price
Place
Promotion

So, whenever a professional Marketer provides advice, he/she would pay great attention to these areas.

First and foremost, we should find out whether the product itself is marketable. That is, whether it has a ready demand. If not what modifications need to be done in order to make the product a high demand one. You need to expand the variety of products offered to the customers (if possible) since people love to see a difference in things, which is the same when it comes to consuming commodities.

Similarly, the quality should also be excellent so that consumers are happy with the product. Differentiate your product from the others by having a unique product design, in addition to having more features. Also make sure the product is given warranties and are backed by other services such as customer follow-up and after sales service. Provide your product in different sizes and packaging. This would enable you to reach wider markets.

The next most important factor is the Price of the product. The product should be worth a customer’s purchase. In other words, the product should be priced so that the customers feel that it is true value for money. Award the customer special discounts and also other allowances so that they feel that they are special. This would help the company by way of getting repeated sales, due to customer loyalty and retention. If there is any possibility of providing the customer with an opportunity for easy (and convenient) payment (i.e. by allowing them to make payments using credit cards, allowing a payment period, or credit terms), offer it. They would definitely love to deal with you.

Place of Distribution is the next most important point that a marketing advisor would look into. No matter how good a product is, if the distribution of the product fails, or in other words, if the customer finds it hard to acquire the product with ease, the product will be a failure. So make sure that proper distribution is done in order to make available your products at customer convenience. A greater coverage would mean more sales. For example, if you are a soap manufacturing company, intensively distribute the product so that it is available for easy purchase. Also make sure that there are enough inventories, in addition to having excellent transport.

Last but not the least comes Promotion. A product would fail if it is not properly promoted. Do Sales Promotions since it enables the acquisition of new customers. Advertise your product (possibly on Television, Radio, Newspapers, Hoardings, Flyers or Brochures). This would definitely help increase the awareness about the product as well as the company/ business. Build an excellent Sales force since they are the ones who represent the company, and proper Sales representation would create a very good impression about the company in the minds of consumers. Engage in Public Relations and also run Direct Marketing campaigns (such as Direct Mails and Direct calls to customers). This will help the company accrue more and more customers, which would finally result in increased sales and profits. Make sure you highlight areas of distinction, which would help your business gain an edge over competitors, when carrying out business promotions.
